Springfield Side Kick Dog Training

Transforming the relationship between you and your dog

Our class curriculums are created to help the dog and owner develop the skills needed to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen tests.

The advanced AKC CGC tests are the CGCU and the CGCC. These are the tests that anyone interested in being certified for therapy dog work or service dogs need to pass.

Steps to get your dog certified as a Therapy Dog:

  1. SKDT 101 or SKDT 102 Positively Puppies or Attentive Adults Class (Based on age)

  2. SKDT 102 Mindful Manners

  3. Comforting Canines Therapy Dog Class

  4. Test your dog and pass the AKC CGC test

  5. Get certified with a therapy dog organization.

Each therapy dog organization has their own qualifications. Based on which therapy dog organization you choose to be certified with, will determine your next step. Here are a couple of links and information on two Therapy Dog organizations. Our instructors can evaluate your dog to be certified with ATD if no other elvauator is within 60 miles of Springfield.
